Co-Chief Executive Officer (Part-Time)

Location: Hybrid / Dublin 2. There is significant flexibility for home working, but candidates must be able to travel to Dublin as required.
Salary:
€36,000 (3 days per week, €60,000 FTE)

Specified Purpose (Sick Leave Cover)

The Role

SWAN is seeking a Co-Chief Executive Officer to support the organisation through a transitional period as the current CEO returns on a phased basis.

This is a part-time leadership role (3 days per week), focused on the internal management and organisational side of SWAN’s work. The successful candidate will work alongside the current CEO, who will focus primarily on policy and advocacy.

This is a practical, hands-on leadership role within a small organisation, requiring strong judgement, coordination, and the ability to ensure that work progresses effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide organisational leadership and coordination
  • Line manage and support staff
  • Oversee planning and reporting cycles
  • Support governance processes and Board engagement
  • Maintain financial oversight and review budgets
  • Manage operational decision-making and priorities
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal and Board matters

About You

You will bring senior leadership experience and be comfortable operating in a small, mission-driven organisation.

You are likely to have:
  • Experience in organisational leadership, management, or operations
  • Strong people management and decision-making capability
  • Experience working with Boards or governance structures
  • Financial oversight and budgeting experience
  • The ability to prioritise, coordinate, and keep work on track

Experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable. Experience in environmental or policy-related work would be an advantage but is not essential.

Contract Details

This is a Specified Purpose Contract linked to the phased return of the current CEO.

The current expectation is that the role will run through the remainder of the year, although the exact duration is dependent on organisational needs.
