Throughout June we asked people to post photos of their water environment and to include text in their posts that tagged Minister O’Brien and Minister Noonan asking for more ambitious River Basin Management Plan and to adopt our asks in the plan.
Many fantastic photo posts were put out. Some showing how beautiful and wonderful our water environment is and some showing the various pressures that our rivers, lakes and seas are under. The end result was a striking call to the Ministers to strengthen their plan.
Winner of the best photo post in our photo campaign by Wildlife Learning & Discovery
As part of the campaign we announced that we would give the best photo post a prize of the “Ireland’s Rivers” book. The winning post by Wildlife Learning and Discovery used a beautiful picture of kayakers on the river Illen in Skibereen.
2nd place went to this striking photo post of a heron on a shopping trolley by DARA on Twitter.
3rd place went to this wonderful photo post with four photos of an otter on the Lee by Chris Martin (LooseLensCap) posted on Instagram.
